Frequently Asked Questions

  • What time does church start Sunday morning?
Answer:  Sunday School Classes are at 10:00 AM followed by a Contemporary Worship Service at 11:00
AM.  Currently there is no Sunday evening worship or teaching series.

  • What kind of a Baptist church are you?
Answer:  We are Southern Baptist but mostly we're Christian.  We are affiliated with the Blue River -
Kansas City Baptist Association, the Missouri Baptist Convention and the Southern Baptist Convention.
Yet we have sympathies toward other Baptist and other Evangelical Christian entities and hold firmly to
the historic position that Baptist Churches are fully autonomous and may affiliate with whomever they so
choose in a cooperative covenant relationship.

  • What size is your congregation?
Answer:  Sunday morning attendance in the worship service is usually below 50.  Seldom does
attendance go below 20 and occasionally the attendance swells into the mid to high 50s.

  • What do you offer families with children?
Answer:  Authentic Christian fellowship.  We are not phoney with one another.  Sometimes our rough
edges show, but we truly love one another and bear with one another when our growing edges get
exposed.  We are resolved to reconcile and forgive instead of give up and bug out.  We have a strong
ministry to teenagers with a vibrant Youth Group that goes on mission trips and other outings every year
    including places like Tchula, Mississippi; Nashville, Tennessee; Louisville, Kentucky; Puerto Rico;
Everett, Washington; and Toledo, Ohio.  The Youth Group has gone to XTREME WINTER in Branson,
Missouri for the past several years and plans to go next in December, 2007.  There is extended child
care provided for children under five during the worship service.  On Wednesdays, the Youth Group
(Junior & Senior High students) meets at 6:30 p.m.   Children in Action (CiA) is offered for boys and girls
in grades 1 - 3.  Right now there is no Wednesday program offering for per-school children.    We do
have graded Sunday School classes for all ages.

  • Do you favor contemporary or traditional worship music?  Do you always sing out of the hymnal?
We offer a Blended Worship Service format.   Sometimes when the young people who make up our
Praise Band can all come, well then we have a praise band and a contemporary sound.  When the Praise
Band cannot all be together, then we plan a more traditional worship service.

  • How can I get to Colbern Road Baptist Church?
Here.  Try this hot link below to Yahoo! map navigator.    Colbern Road is finally completed from 291 all
the way to 7 Highway and we're REAL HAPPY about that!  The church is about a 5-minute drive east of
Highway 291 on the north side of Colbern Road and exactly one mile west of 7 Highway.
